Baseball: Panthers rally for 10-6 win over Albion

LaGrange rallied from an early five-run deficit to defeat Albion (Mich.) 10-6 on Tuesday in Williamson Stadium at Cleaveland Field. The Panthers (6-9) took two straight games from the Britons (1-2) after losing the series opener.

The Panthers got an outstanding relief appearance from Mason Webster. Webster threw seven shutout innings, allowing only two hits. He walked four and struck out eight.

Albion scored all of its runs in the second inning off starter Robby Williams to take a 6-1 lead. The Panthers had scored in the first on a run-scoring double by Cody Muren to go up 1-0.

The Panthers started their comeback in the third inning. They loaded the bases with no outs. Brent Kinsey cleared the bases with a double to the left field fence to make it 6-4.

In the fifth, the Panthers scored four runs to take the lead for good. Linwood Roberds' RBI single to left tied the game. Anthony Iannetta's single scored Roberds with the go ahead run and Brandon Espinosa came around to score on the play also to make it 8-6.

The Panthers added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings to go up 10-6. Josh Shiver's double scored Iannetta all the way from first in the seventh. In the eighth, the Panthers got a run without benefit of a hit, as the Britons made two errors in the inning.

The Panthers had 11 hits in the game. Iannetta and Muren had two hits each.

The Panthers host Rowan on Saturday at 2 p.m.
