The Great South Athletic Conference announced its 2011 baseball all-conference team Thursday. LaGrange junior first baseman David Miller was selected to the team for the second straight year. The Panthers had 11 players earn all-academic honors and three others selected to the all-freshman team.
Miller led the team with a .353 batting average. He also led the team with 34 runs, 12 doubles and a .420 on-base percentage. Miller had two home runs and 30 RBIs.
Miller was also one of 11 Panthers who earned GSACC All-academic honors with GPAs of 3.25 or higher. Joining Miller on the all-academic team were: Jake Adcock, Brandon Espinosa, Anthony Iannetta, Henry Jacobs, Brent Kinsey, Miles Lee, Jordan Martinec, Linwood Roberds, Robby Williams and Mason Webster. Miller and Martinec are on the team for the second straight year.
The Panthers also had three selected to the GSAC All-Freshman team: Kevin McCrary, Bobby Woodall and Phil Woods. McCrary batted .287 with 15 RBIs. Woodall was second on the team with four home runs; leading the team with 33 RBIs and a .519 slugging percentage, while batting .317. Woods batted .275 with 10 RBIs and was tied for second on the team with nine stolen bases.
Isaiah Whitfield received the team's GSAC Sportsmanship Award.
